This project is officially over for the 2011-2012 school year.

Much appreciation to all of the individuals around the world that visited this website and commented on the blog posts. Our final total was 1200 visits from 45 countries and over 200 comments. Initially, 24 students at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia posted about countries and cultures. It was quickly apparent that this blog may be more robust if we asked guest bloggers to join us. Students from Ontario, Canada joined us and contributed to the blog.

Please look for the 2012-2013 County/Culture blog to begin in March of 2013. Again, much thanks to all that visited and commented.

Kim Sivick,                                                                                                                      Coordinator of Technology                                                                                          Springside Chestnut Hill Academy                                                                           Philadelphia, PA, U.S.

Welcome to the students joining this blog from Jarvis, Ontario, Canada.

In my last post, I sent out an invitation to 9&10 year old students to join our blog. A teacher, Megan Cowan from Ontario, Canada responded. She encouraged her students to research countries not listed on our blog and add a post. Some of their posts are now on the blog and more are in the works.

What started out as a simple blog for 4th grade students has grown, organically. The initial blog received comments from more countries than we had posts. The next logical step was to increase the number of posts. Our students wanted to hear from other students. We are delighted to have the students from Canada join this bog and invite students from all over the world to comment or send a message if you would like to add a post.

Posts from students in Canada have the country code CA next to their name and the students form the United States have the letters US next to their names.

Please comment on the Kidblog and be sure to include the country where you live.

Thank you.

Wanted: 9-10 year old bloggers!

This project has far exceeded any 4th grade global blogging project I’ve managed in the past. In less than one month we’ve logged 800 visits from 41 countries! Just click on the map to read the statistics. The kidblog (where the students post) has 26 posts and a collective 205 comments.

We could use some help! There are many countries that do not have a post. If your class or perhaps just one student, would like to contribute, please contact me, ksivick@sch.org.

I will add new students to the current kidblog account. All participating students can extend their learning through this collaborative effort. Again, we welcome full classes of students or individual students.

Thanks,  Kim Sivick

Welcome to our website!

We are a group of 4th grade students from  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States of America. Our teacher designed this website as a cover for our blog so that we may see our visitors on a world map. You may click on the cloud icon above to comment here or visit the kidblog to comment directly on a student’s post.

Each of us has chosen a country to research. We asked questions and wrote some of the information we learned. We would really appreciate your comments. Please go to this site to read what we have written and leave a comment:
